The Healing Place Poem + “Strawberry Swing (Frank Ocean Cover)” on SoundCloud

October 05, 2021 by Quentin Marcellis

New braids, and a new mindset. Since the 2020 pandemic, we have all been going through a lot. COVID-19. Racial, and sexual prejudice. The ozone layer is getting thinner, and our planet continues to experience global warming, and ‘abnormal’ weather patterns. Some of us “myself included” are still learning to heal ourselves, while some of us are still learning that we are the only ones that can make peace with our own inner demons in this World. Life is short, and that’s what my new cover song ‘Strawberry Swing (Frank Ocean Cover)’ is all about.

I wrote this poem titled  “The Healing Place” during the 2020 pandemic, about my healing Journey, and the hardships, and experience’s that have shaped my 20’s that have helped me to evolve mind, body, and spirit.

The Healing Place

Im on a Journey, your on a Journey, we’re all on a Journey. Just like a Phoenix that thrives,  and soars form the flames that try to consume it I become one with the pain, and the struggle to fly, and when the pressures of life become to hot, and the heat disintegrates me into dust, I rise from the ashes born again. Still I rise despite all of the challenges life has presented me in this last decade. Surviving your 20’s is no joke. No job that has ever fired me, lover who has broken my heart, or friend that has turned into an enemy will ever again hold me back from advocating for myself. Any obstacle I face on my path in this new decade I will gracefully glide over like hurdles on a track. And although my feet are burning from the heat of the sands of my Journey I will continue to go down my own path and blaze a trial. Life is not a race, it’s a marathon.

My first single release from my upcoming mixtape ‘Strawberry Swing (Frank Ocean Cover)’ 🐫 his mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra. That mixtape inspired me to be an artist, and has influenced my alternative R&B sound. The song is also an original Cold Play sample.

Since I’ve been away from  Queology.net, I have realized how therapeutic writing is for me, and how effective my blog provides me a platform to be the author of my own story like a public memoir, or dairy. I know that I am capable of so much more than you have seen from me, and with the platform of my personal blog, I intend to do it.  When I originally created this website, I did so with the intention that it other people aren’t going to give me my own  platform to promote myself, my gifts, and talents, than I am not going to sit around and wait for anybody to invest in me, I will invest in my damn self. Blogging has not only become a hobby for me, but a form of self care, a therapy session with my higher self.

The ‘CarefreeBlackBoy’ official music video is on the way!

For the last 3 months I’ve been working diligently on the release of my first music video for my first single ‘CarefreeBlackBoy.’ There have been some major setbacks, and challenges along the way to putting it out but it will come out very soon, and I want to thank to thank my fans, and supporters for your patience. We never have a way of predicting when things don’t go as planned, it’s how we react to things that don’t go as planned that defines us the most. Check out some bending the scenes shots so far.

The Yoga Journey Begins 🐫

April 01, 2021 by Quentin Marcellis

Since I’ve been away from Queology.net, I have realized how therapeutic writting is for me, and how effective my blog provides me platform to be the author of my own story, like a public memoir, or dairy. Last Summer I got introduced to ‘Be Love Yoga Studio’ ॐ, and the practice of yoga. Since then, yoga has been consistent practice, and a personal necessity to balance my mind, body, and spirit. After getting to know the owners of the yoga studio Hailey, and Joe, and expressing my desire to grow in the practice, they also expressed to me a desire for more people of color to teach yoga at their studio, witch then birthed the idea to train to teach my own yoga class that resonates with me. After doing some research I found a popular African American form of yoga called ‘Kemetic Yoga.’ The owners of ‘Be Love Yoga Studio’ॐ kindly organized a GoFundMe account to raise 1’400$ for me to take Kemetic Yoga trainings classes to get my certification last fall.

Kemetic Yoga is the ancient Egyptian ☥𓆣𓂀𓆃 system of Yoga enlightenment based upon the practices of physical movements, combined with controlled deep breathing, and meditation. After about three months of raising money, and receiving generous donations from friends, and family, I successful made my target goal, and I am now training to teach ‘Kemetic Yoga’ through https://kemeticyogaskills.com

Yoga is not easy, it’s a practice that requires dedication, and commitment to master. Just like going to the gym requires the right mindset to keep a routine in order to see results. When i come to practice I feel anxious, and a little nervous sometimes because of the physical pain, but when I leave practice, I always leave feeling complete rejuvenated. the practice of yoga will certainly push me far out of my comfort zone, but it’s the only way to grow. The yoga journey begins.

“Art Imitates Life” + New Singles From My Debut Mixtape “Days In The Midwest 🌵”

October 30, 2020 by Quentin Marcellis

I’m on a journey 🐫, your on a journey. We’re all on a journey. And just like all journeys, a unique path of my very own. Since releasing my mixtape “Days In The Midwest🌵” it’s crazy how everything that I wrote about from personal life experiences, free thought ego reflections, and pain expressed in my songs, either found it’s way back into my life again to test me, or brought me back to the lyrics, and comfort of my own music. Feelings of being lost, confused, and then rediscovering myself again. I guess art truely imitates life, as they say. Basically a Sagittarius ♐︎ will turn their wounds, into wisdom. I’m not perfect, but it’s the beauty in shining a bright light on my imperfections that allows me to clearly see the areas in my life, and places in my spirit that need most healing. It’s an uphill 🏔 battle.

All of my singles from my first mixtape are officially out. #FourWings 🕊 was the lead single released in 2019 which seems like ages ago. My new singles 11:11✨, #DaysInTheMidwest 🌵, and #BlackWallStreet💲 from my debut mixtape ‘Days In The Midwest 🌵’ are available now on ITunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, and all streaming platforms.

The inspiration behind the photoshoot for my singles was to pay homage to Black Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, and my hometown Tulsa Oklahoma. I also wanted to show off me embracing my natural hair. I’m currently growing out faux loc dreads , and I think it’s important for people to see images of Black men, and women embracing their natural hair.

Another very important part of my photoshoot for my remaining singles from my first mixtape was to pay homage to my grandfather Curtis LaVern Wright, who passed away last year December 24th, 2019, on Christmas Eve in his sleep. Although he passed away peacefully, served our country in the Vietnam War, and lived a long life, 2020 started off rough for me, and my family before the COVID-19 pandemic. My grandfather was also also a musician, and his favorite artist was James Brown. He also played the electric, and acoustic guitar. The guitar 🎸 I’m holding belongs to my grandfather, and after he passed away I was gifted two, out of the many he owned that other family members got to keep as well. My Mother jokes all the time that maybe I get my voice, and musical hobbies, and performer interest from my grandfather. I feel like I took so much time for granted with him while he was on this Earth 🌎, being too preoccupied with life as a 20 something, and I wish I got to sing, and dance with him more. I plan to continue his legacy, by learning how to play the base, and acoustic guitars that carry his spirit, and incorporating that into my music.

#OnAJourney 🐫 was planned to be released this Summer 🌞, but as of right now it’s looking like fall 🍂 season! I appreciate those of you who are waiting for it. I will not disappoint. I promise it will be worth the wait! Going forward, I will no longer be making promise dates for mixtapes/albums. It will come out when it comes out. 2020 has been a challenge for us all! And that is apart of the journey. I’m doing this all with no label, or management. I’m independent, managing myself, and being guided by my own in intuition. The anxiety is crazy.
