Photo shoot with 'The Sobo' Vintage Boutique

August 11, 2022 by Quentin Marcellis

For my show ‘Summer Exhibition’ at the Phibrook Museum 🏛, I was styled for a promotional shoot by ‘The Sobo’ Vintage Boutique (1315 E 6th St, Tulsa, Ok 74120) a vintage boutique in my hometown that I have had a history with, so its a full circle moment.

I styled my fellow artist Ebony Easiley for her music video đŸŽ„ back in 2016, when ‘The Sobo’ had a different owner (Lauren Spears), and ever since then I’ve been shopping here, and networking with other stylist, artist, and fashion enthusiast. Me, and Lauren had a photoshoot (check out below). When I lived in New York đŸ—œeight years ago I learned all about styling from working with a celebrity stylist Harrison Crite. Fashion is a huge part of my brand, and self expression, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into the fashion industry.

Also I have alot of connections with the 'Philbrook Museum of Art’ as well. I was on set of a film đŸŽ„ shot here as a background extra. This photo shoot was a full circle moment for me, and I’m excited about my show August 20th at the ‘Philbrook Museum of Art.’ 🩚

'Introducing Quentin Marcellis' Interview with Indieferrential.com

July 25, 2022 by Quentin Marcellis

Check out my new interview “Introducing: Quentin MarcellisđŸŒ”â€ with Indiefferential.com up now on Indiefferential’s ‘What’s New’ for the month of July. A digital magazine made by artist, creators, and producers, featuring interviews, music, and art projects.

'Introducing Quentin Marcellis' Interview with Indieferrential.com

Indiefferential.com: “Tell us about your latest or upcoming release. Where can we find you right now and what are you up to?

Quentin Marcellis: You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check out my singles, and my mixtape #DaydInTheMidwestđŸŒ” on SoundCloud, YouTube, Datpiff.com, Vimeo, ITunes, Tidal, Spotify, and all streaming platforms by searching Quentin Marcellis! Right now I’m working on my first EP titled ‘Carefree Black Boy’✹and currently shooting my second music video for my single ‘FourWings🕊.’

Indiefferential.com: Tell us a bit about your influences.

Quentin Marcellis: My influences are wide, from 90’s r&b and hip hop, to psychedelic bands, and sounds. I would categorize my style of music as alternative r&b. My taste can range from Jazz, to sounds from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, or 80’s. Fashion is also a huge influence on my sound, and the vibe I am seeking through each phase I go through in my art. My biggest influence came when Frank Ocean released his highly acclaimed mixtape titled Nostalgia, Ultra in 2011. That’s when I fell in love with music again, and became inspired to become an artist.

 Indiefferential.com: How did you start?

Quentin Marcellis: I started singing in the church choir, and praise teams of youth groups in my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It wasn’t until I moved out of Oklahoma, had some experience in D.C, and New York meeting artist, and music industry professionals, coming to terms with my own identify as a person, and seeing Frank Ocean perform live, that I became inspired to become a solo music artist, and carve out my own sound, and path on this journey.

Indiefferential.com: How will artists be influenced by the rapid change in technology in the future in your opinion? What will change?

Quentin Marcellis: I think artist will be influenced by the rapid change in technology in the future because we will have to find new ways eventually of making music, releasing art, creating music videos, and digital promotion. Technology will make music become more digital, and we will have to learn how to stay creative through various forms of social media, apps, and discover new ways of releasing art, and moving digital content, when it comes to promoting our style, brand, and individuality.

Indiefferential.com: What advice would you give your younger self?

Quentin Marcellis: The advice I would give my younger self is sometimes you have to persist, be patient, and trust that everything is happening exactly how it should, and when it should. You cannot rush divine timing.

Indiefferential.com: What has been the best time for music in your opinion? What era would you like to live in as an alternative?

Quentin Marcellis: The best time for music in my opinion was the 90’s. Aaliyah, Boys 2 Men, SWV, Brandy, and the soundtracks of Disney Cartoons, and Nickelodeon sitcom shows. The era I would live in as an alternative would be the 80’s, because of the style, music, and Nostalgia of that time period.

Indiefferential.com: Do you remember any strange or funny incidents that happened to you?

Quentin Marcellis: One time I randomly ran into Aretha Franklin, and her body guard on the elevator of Macys on 34th Street in New York City. It was completely random, and I wasn’t expecting it. I was so shocked I didn’t say anything.

Indiefferential.com: What is your favorite book? What would you suggest to our readers?

Quentin Marcellis: My favorite books are usually dealing with personal growth, and spirituality. So I enjoy reading books about the ‘Law of attraction’ or self help book. But my favorite book would be the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. It had a huge impact on my childhood.

Indiefferential.com: Tell us about your latest or upcoming release.

Quentin Marcellis: My latest upcoming release is my second mixtape titled ‘ On A JourneyđŸ«â€™ that will be releasing later this Summer. It’s basically a cover song project all about paying homage to artist that have inspired my alternative r&b sound, as well as at the same time the lyrics, and poetry of my songs are taking the listener on a journey of spiritual discovery, and soul searching. This project is about embracing your path, and not giving up.
